Also in Surefire’s portfolio are LED ( light emitting diode ) flashlights which include very useful features as electronically controlled power regulation and varying multiple levels of brightness for any particular moment. The main LEDs used by SureFire are Lumileds Luxeon or the Cree XR-E LEDs.

To fit with the design/ aim and purpose of the Surefire torch most are powered by lithium CR123A batteries. The reason being for this is that the CR123A battery is compact in size, very low in weight and gives out a very high power output. It is the ideal power source for the Surefire torch. There are a few examples of Surefire flashlights that come with rechargeable battery packs. The primary material used in the production of the Surefire torch is that of anodized aluminium in several different colour formats. Their Nitrolon models are made of glass reinforced nylon.

All of Surefire’s flashlights are weatherproof and come with various accessories if required. These accessories include red/ blue/ infrared filters, beam diffusers, beam covers, pouches/ holsters and spare battery/ bulb carriers.

This surefire torch comes in an ultra compact design and has an absolutely amazing 120 Lumen maximum output. The LED is the new ALL LED version. Its body is shaped from rugged aerospace grade aluminium which has been anodized in olive drab. The LED is long lasting giving thousands od hours of use with filament to burn. On the low setting it has wide angle flood light with secondary back up LEDs. The internal reflector combined with the high quality lens allow this flashlight to produce a smooth tight long beam. The tail cap switch has two positions. You press momentary for low on, press further for high on and twist for constant on. For storage and transportation the switch lock prevents any accidental activation. The O ring is weatherproof sealed and the whole flashlight is waterproof up to 1 metre for as long as 30 minutes. SUREFIRE TORCH AND FLASHLIGHT

Surefire torch is a very superior flashlight favoured by many people and institutions around the world. They are designed and manufactured by a company called Surefire. Surefire is a company based in Fountain Valley, California founded in 1979 by Dr. John Matthews, Dr. Peter Hawk and Ed Reynolds. As well as supplying Surefire torch they also do distribute clothing, pens, batteries.

A torch or flashlight is basically a portable instrument that gives out light from a bulb or an LED. The basic torch design is that of a light source in a parabolic reflector which shapes the torches beam. The light source is protected with a transparent window from damage and outside aliens and there is a power supply which is usually a battery in some shape or form. All of this is wrapped in a casing that is made and designed to fit well in the user’s hand. As well as hand held torches there are also torches that can be mounted on to helmets such as those torches used by miners and campers. A slight adaptation to the surefire torch is that of the battery lamp that is used by cyclists on their bikes at night time. In the United States and Canada the name  flashlight is used for this handy tool whilst in most other English speaking countries the term used is torch.

The first hand held torch was invented around the year 1899. In 1896 saw the invention of the first dry cell battery- Instead of using a liquid this battery used a paste electrode. Because of this the battery did not spill or break easily so was much more suitable in the use of portable electrical devices. So in 1899 American Electrical Novelty and Manufacturing Company obtained the patent from English inventor David Misell and this Misell device was powered by D batteries and hence the invention of the hand held torch. Many advances have since been made in the development of the surefire torch and other hand held torches  to get us to where we are today. There are many torches or flashlights out there in the market place today but out of them all we prefer the surefire torch.
